Pictures from Albania
The first harbour of Albania where we checked in was Shenjin, a combined fishing and industrial harbour. We were a bit anxious about the expected bureaucratic procedures here but was most suprised by the very nice welcome we've got from the friendly harbour captain. He even invited us for a beer after the check in procedures was finished!
Later on his colleague was kind enough to drive me to a toy's shop(!) so I could buy me an Albanian courtesy flag (which is necesarry to carry while sailing in Albania). In the evening we experienced the bustling nightlife of Shenjin. All these people walking on the sand/muddy road between the hotels and the beach. Very interesting and very different.
The day after we sailed to Durres, the largest harbour in Albania. And probably the second town in size next to Tirana.
Durres had a number of statues, probably from the communist era. Durres have hundreds of cafees, but just a few restaurants. My beeftek index was typically 12-15 € in Croatia and Montenegro, but here it was just 5€. It is very cheap to eat out on restaurants, and to shop e.g. vegetables. Durres had one rather luxious Sky Bar, which we visited and got a great view of the harbour and town.
Here are some more photos from the beach, seems to be almost dangereous to take a sun bath there...So I went to the hair dresser instead. A 14 year old guy did the Albanian hairstyle to me. He was very ambitious. He kept on cutting, cutting and cutting. In the end I had to stop him. And I now experience the shortest haircut since I was 8 years old. Last evening in Durres we enjoyed the "green" bar in the ancient Venetian tower and had some drinks at low prices. Finally some more pictures from the picturesque harbour with the impressive cranes :-)
